Ruth Opiyo. MA LPC
Ruth earned her Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling degree in 2002 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She completed her internship working with a local mental health agency serving children and adolescents and their families in Dallas county. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for more than 15 years and brings a wealth of knowledge from working with various populations. Ruth has worked in a multitude of clinical settings including Crisis centers, mental health hospitals, residential treatment centers and in private practice. She enjoys working with all ages in both individual and family therapy.
Ruth has experience working with individuals and families from various cultures and believes that each child and family should be treated by a culturally competent therapist. Ruth also believes that since every individual and family is unique, she utilizes integrative treatment models to not only treat the individual but to heal generations.
Ruth is EMDR trained and specializes in working with individuals and families that have endured trauma. Ruth is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and The American Counseling Association.
