Briana specializes in play therapy treating children (ages 3+) with all variety of presenting problems. Her main theoretical orientation includes the gentle approaches of child-centered therapy and gestalt play therapy. She also has success working with preteens and teenagers, and has a big heart for creating healing places for whole families. During her practicum at a Christian private practice, she learned techniques for disorders such as those related to trauma, depression and anxiety. These services are available when requested (typically for ages 7+).
Truly, one of Briana’s greatest joys are the moments of unraveling that
take place during therapy with a child. Moved greatly by the beauty of a
resilient young heart, Briana is in awe of a child’s built-in ability
to overcome deep distress and rise up above life’s challenges,
victorious. She specializes in play therapy by connecting with children
and fostering the appropriate relationship conducive to processing the
inevitable troubles of life.
Getting to know Briana...
Born in Alaska, and cultivated amongst her three brothers and three sisters in the faraway lands of Azerbaijan, Brazil and Indonesia, Briana was raised for adventure. She isn’t easily intimidated by the tides of change and delights to provide a safe harbor for those lost in the waves.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Texas A&M (whoop!) with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude. After spending time on opposite sides of the career spectrum, as a 2nd grade teacher and then a computer programmer, she attended Amberton University to complete a masters in professional counseling.
When not in play with children at the office, Briana can be found in play with her own littles — Finn & Fern — or at the lake in a kayak with the whole family. She adores her beloved mini goldendoodle, Ruby, who we hope to be part of the therapy team in the future!
